Good Intentions (detail)

Behind the Scenes

My art studio is a sunny, open room in my home.  The piece I’m working on is displayed on my easel.  The work in progress “talks” to me as I walk by, saying “I want more of this, or less of that,” or “have you considered adding (blank) to me?”  The work presents visual problems to solve, such as, “How can the contrast between the textures be maximized?” or “What can be edited out to make the preeminent idea clearer?”  The best solutions seem to come when I’m falling asleep, just waking up, or swimming laps.
